Permit
The National Pollution Discharge Elimination  System Permit is a Federal document issued by the Environmental  Protection Agency in conjunction with the Massachusetts Department  of Environmental Protection (DEP). It is issued in compliance  with the provisions of the Federal Clean Water Act as amended  and the Massachusetts Clean Water Act, as amended.

The permit authorizes the Town to discharge  from the Water Pollution Control Facility (WPCF) located at  34 Greenfield Rd., Montague Massachusetts and from the Combined  Sewer Overflow (CSO) also located on Greenfield Rd. near the  WPCF. The CSO is permitted to discharge only during wet weather  periods.
